Committees

Golden Web is engaged in ongoing work to provide an equitable experience within the school. In addition to yearly evaluations completed by students, greater transparency and communication, there are committees to assist with relationships between students, Colette and the greater community. This includes an advisory committee that meets to provide feedback and suggest changes about the school and its structure, as well as a committee to develop conflict resolution processes. We encourage each student to work towards dismantling white supremacy culture within the school and within themselves We would like to see a student led committee that would actively work to support BIPOC projects in the broader community. Currently Colette gives a percentage of her school income to local BIPOC groups and we do fundraisers at all school rituals to donate to BIPOC groups. In addition there is a 50% POC discount on all classes and programs in acknowledgement of the ways in which POC are still oppressed and have had land, practices and labor stolen since the Europeans arrived on this continent. Please see our POC Discount page for more info.

The intention is for these groups to continue to support the Golden Web and greater communities by putting in place a process for accountability, conflict resolution, transparency and deconstructing behaviors that center whiteness as the norm.

Advisory Committee

About | Mission

The Advisory Committee functions as a bridge between the founder, the magic school and the greater community. We keep a pulse on the heartbeat of the ideas, the magic, the school and serve to work on proposals. We consist of current alumni and are welcoming of current students. We are a magical group that comes together to help give the community a voice, with recommendations and perspectives. We are a non-hierarchical group, each person is sovereign to the whole group. We answer to no other groups or individuals, but may work in conjunction with them.

BIPOC Support Committee

About | Mission

This group would look at ways we can support ongoing work by BIPOC groups in our community. To develop a resource list and calendar of local groups and events as a way to focus on BIPOC needs. The school is also doing fundraisers at rituals and within classes to donate to various BIPOC groups, as a small step towards reparations. If you would like to help with that contact Colette.

Conflict Resolution Committee

About | Mission

This group is currently working on developing an equitable conflict resolution policy that works for a small scale business and for the school.
